That said, I’m not chasing down independent artists for using my drums and I’m happy to provide ’em, hence the “royalty free”. But, if you’re making big time bread (six figures, Grammy nods, palatial mansions, long Cadillacs, etc.), just do the right thing and hit me up is all I ask. Artists with 200 streams have put me on publishing when they really didn’t have to (as have some bigger players), so if you’ve found yourself with a smash hit…there’s really no excuse in 2023. There’s a fair middle ground if everyone is reasonable, and the line between fair and draconian isn’t as thin as we’d think – nobody seems to get that. So the Hatfields and McCoys nature of this issue rolls on!
