J-Zone on “The Questions” Trivia Show

I was a guest on “The Questions,” a hip-hop trivia show, last week. Interspersed with the trivia questions are anecdotes about session drumming, career change, The Du-Rites and being sampled by Madlib, along with many other things. I scored 9 out of 15, which is 60% and a sign that my elephant’s memory is getting more selective as I get older! It was live this past Thursday but here’s the archive: Enjoy it here on YouTube!

With the numerous reinventions I’ve gone through since the late ‘90s - hip-hop producer/artist; to DJ/writer/author and eventually, drummer - trying to cram it all on one website was a mess. My pivot to drumming in 2011 was entirely unplanned and my prior website was designed to promote a book. Finding more focus and abandoning being a jack-of-a-zillion trades over the last decade, I decided to repurpose my site as HQ for my work and path as a drummer... and start going by my actual name.
